At FCL we pride ourselves in caring for our land with integrity. Each year we follow an agency-approved schedule of management and maintenance tasks to ensure that the habitat available for our endangered species remains pristine. Some of the tasks we engage in include:
- Seining the ponds to count salamanders and frogs, as well as to survey for other creatures and to ensure there are no exotic or introduced predators.
- Vegetation monitoring for exotic plant control and cattle grazing to ensure that the forage remains at appropriate levels to support our wildlife.
- Road, culvert, and pond maintenance to combat erosion and to maintain access to the preserves.
- Visiting and photo documenting the preserves at different times during the year to document the ponds, the forage, and the wildlife.
- Most of all, we value our natural resources and care for them in ways that ensure the preservation of our species in perpetuity.
